报告内容:
In the era of big data, life science research has been greatly affected by the generation of large data sets, specifically by overloads of omics information (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, etc.). Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies have exponentially increased the rate of biological data in the past a few years. In the first part of my talk, I will introduce the opportunities and challenges for biostatisticians in genomics research and briefly present a methodology work of mine in using RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) to detect differential isoform expression, which is of great biological interest due to its direct relevance to protein function and disease pathogenesis. In the second part of my talk, I will present several ongoing collaborative projects of mine with physicians and biologists, to illustrate the importance of the application of biostatistics in biomedical research.
